Deputy Julio Campos urges pause on Mato Grosso road privatization

State deputy Julio Campos appealed to Governor Otaviano Pivetta and Infrastructure Secretary Marcelo de Oliveira to suspend the planned concession of two Mato Grosso highways. He highlighted the dilapidated condition of the MT‑338 (Estrada da Baiana) and the MT‑220 (Trevo Tabaporã), important routes for agricultural logistics that serve more than nine communities and around 150,000 residents. Campos warned that the proposed toll of R$12.75 per 30 km would be excessive unless the roads are fully restored, noting that the concession was signed on 1 September 2025 with the Consórcio Vale do Arinos and approved by the state regulator AGer.

He argued that privatization should not proceed until repairs are completed, emphasizing the disparity between state‑run toll rates and those on federal highways such as BR‑163, which charge roughly half as much.
