Deputy Justice Minister Sedat Ayyıldız visits Gümüşhane

Turkish Deputy Justice Minister Sedat Ayyıldız conducted a series of visits in Gümüşhane, meeting with the Governor, the Mayor, and AK Party officials. During his meetings, Ayyıldız addressed two primary reasons for low public trust in the judiciary: the lengthy duration of trials and the perception that certain groups possess immunity from prosecution.

To combat these issues, Ayyıldız stated that the Ministry is focused on accelerating judicial processes. He noted that a specialized bureau for judicial speed and efficiency has been established within the Council of Judges and Prosecutors. He also mentioned ongoing steps within the Judicial Package to prevent the long-term postponement of hearings.

Additionally, Ayyıldız discussed the 'Terror-free Turkey' vision, emphasizing the goal of eliminating terrorism both domestically and regionally. Regarding legislative processes, he noted that while certain crimes like armed murder and looting are excluded from specific legal benefits, those convicted of propaganda or membership may benefit under strict conditions, provided they do not re-offend within a 5 to 10-year period.
