Deputy María Soledad Amieva promotes disability inclusion initiatives
Mexican Deputy María Soledad Amieva Zamora has highlighted several initiatives aimed at promoting the inclusion of persons with disabilities. These efforts include raising public awareness, creating spaces for dialogue, and facilitating access to public service.
In collaboration with the Benemérita Universidad Autónoma de Puebla, the State Congress held the First Interuniversity Inclusive Comic Contest 2026. The competition, which drew 23 finalists, aimed to use storytelling to highlight the experiences of people with disabilities. Notable winners included Gabriela Hernández Sánchez for ‘Confía en Milo’, a group for ‘Gemelas’, and Johan Hernández García for ‘El mundo de Christian’.
Amieva also announced her upcoming participation in the National Meeting of Public Servants with Disabilities at the Senate of the Republic on August 31. Additionally, she has proposed a reform to the Federal Labor Law that would require all companies to allocate 2% of their workforce to persons with disabilities to bolster employment inclusion.
