Deputy Minister Papathanasis Visits Florina to Discuss Infrastructure and Local Economy

On 28 July 2026, Deputy Minister of National Economy and Finance Nikos Papathanasis visited the Florina branch of the Regional Development Agency (ΔΕΕΠ). He was accompanied by the Director of the Fair Development Transition Authority, Pelopidas Kalliri, and local officials including MP Stavros Papasotiriou. The meeting, chaired by ΔΕΕΠ President Rena Kourenou, highlighted the completion of the E65 highway project and the planned Ptolemida‑Xino Nero road. Priorities emphasized were tax reductions on fuel and heating oil, creation of permanent jobs, and measures to address low birth rates and shrinking school populations.

The dialogue also covered broader regional development goals such as strengthening the local economy and improving demographic trends. Participants asked questions on agriculture, employment, and social services, underscoring the need for sustainable growth in the Florina area.
