Deputy Samaniego seeks structural solutions for transporters

Federal Deputy José Armando Fernández Samaniego is calling for structural solutions to assist transporters facing border blockades at the Mexicali-Calexico crossing. The issue stems from United States cabotage regulations, which restrict drivers from performing internal transport work within the U.S. after delivering cargo at a specific point.

Samaniego emphasized that while consular support is necessary, the focus must shift toward long-term solutions. He also suggested that state and local authorities should collaborate to re-evaluate the agricultural vocation of the Mexicali Valley to address regional economic challenges.
