Deputy Tonantzin Cárdenas accuses police of excessive force in Zapopan eviction

In Guadalajara, Jalisco, state deputy Tonantzin Cárdenas of the Futuro party denounced a police operation to clear a site in the Mirador de San Isidro area of Zapopan. She said the state government planned to build police housing on the land, but the eviction involved about 150 security personnel, which she called a "grave excess" when residents were demanding dialogue.

Cárdenas noted that the municipal council lacks authority over land‑use decisions and criticized the state governor, Juan José Frangie, for distancing himself from the eviction, stating that the city hall holds the jurisdiction. The incident highlights tensions over land use, police housing projects, and community rights in the region.
