DeQuan Jones suffers serious leg injury during NLEX victory over TNT

NLEX Road Warriors secured a 118-111 overtime victory against TNT Tropang 5G in the PBA Governors’ Cup at the Ynares Sports Center, but the win was overshadowed by a severe injury to NLEX import DeQuan Jones.

During the third quarter, Jones suffered a complete fracture to his lower leg after losing balance while attacking the basket. The injury occurred when TNT’s Brandon Ganuelas-Rosser landed on him during the play. Jones, who had recorded 23 points before the incident, was stretchered off the court and transported to a hospital.

Ganuelas-Rosser expressed significant distress following the incident, stating he had nothing but admiration for Jones and feared being perceived as a dirty player. NLEX coach Jimmy Alapag dedicated the win to Jones, noting that the player’s leadership and character extend far beyond the court.

Despite playing without their import, NLEX rallied to overcome a late fourth-quarter deficit. Robert Bolick scored 27 points and hit a crucial four-pointer to force overtime, while LJay Gonzales led the overtime period with a career-high 26 points.
