DER-MG official removed in Uberlândia investigation

A court has ordered the precautionary removal of a regional coordinator for the Department of Roads of Minas Gerais (DER-MG) in Uberlândia. The official is also prohibited from accessing the agency's facilities in the city.

The measure is part of an investigation by the Public Ministry of Minas Gerais (MPMG) into irregularities regarding an agreement between the Uberlândia city government and the construction company GSP Life. The investigation focuses on the decision to replace the construction of a full access cloverleaf for the South Ring Road (LMG-503) with a roadwork project of lesser complexity.

Additionally, a preliminary injunction has suspended the effects of a 2023 judicial agreement that allowed the construction company to alter the original urban planning requirements for the GSP Life Uberlândia II subdivision. The court has blocked the issuance of occupancy permits and technical certificates, while maintaining financial and real estate guarantees linked to the development until further notice.
