Der Weg Einer Freiheit to release instrumental edition of ‘Innern’

German progressive black metal quartet Der Weg Einer Freiheit has announced the release of an instrumental edition of their sixth album, ‘Innern’. Scheduled for digital release on September 12, 2026, via Season of Mist, the project marks the one-year anniversary of the original album.

The instrumental version is not merely a vocal-less mix of the original; vocalist and producer Nikita Kamprad has constructed an entirely new mix. This version rebalances instrument levels and introduces new atmospheric layers to ensure the composition maintains its cinematic scale and emotional narrative without vocals. The release aims to highlight the synthesizers, ambient textures, and the interplay between guitars, bass, and drums.

As a precursor to the full release, the band has made an instrumental version of the track ‘Xibalba’ available on all digital platforms. The decision to create the instrumental edition stemmed from the band’s experience during the writing process, specifically noting how the instrumental foundations of certain tracks carried significant weight on their own.
