Dereck Lively II not cleared for Mavericks training camp
Dallas Mavericks center Dereck Lively II has not yet been cleared medically to participate fully in the team’s training camp. Lively is continuing his recovery following foot surgery performed in December.
While his availability for the start of the regular season remains uncertain, reports indicate his recovery is progressing without complications. Lively has been increasing his workload to return to full basketball activities. His recent history has been marked by various injuries, including a stress fracture in his right ankle and a knee sprain, which limited him to playing only seven games last season.
Lively addressed online speculation regarding his recovery status during a podcast appearance, stating, “I’m sick of seeing things on the internet thinking, like, I can’t run, I can’t jump, which I can.” He expressed gratitude to the Mavericks organization for allowing him to manage his rehabilitation at an appropriate pace.
