Derek McInnes sees touchline ban reduced after appeal

Rangers manager Derek McInnes has had his touchline ban partially reduced following a successful appeal. The original four-match suspension, issued by the Scottish Football Association, has been modified so that McInnes will serve two matches immediately, while the remaining two matches are suspended until the end of the season.

The disciplinary action stems from comments McInnes made last season while managing Hearts. Following a controversial late penalty awarded to Celtic in a match against Motherwell, McInnes described the officiating decision as “actually quite disgusting” and suggested a sense of “us against everybody” regarding the title race. The SFA ruled that his remarks implied “bias or incompetence” on the part of match officials.

As a result of the reduced ban, McInnes will miss upcoming Premiership fixtures against Falkirk and Motherwell. The two suspended matches will only be triggered if he breaches the same rules again.
