Derek Reid Arrested in Connection with Temple University Student's Fatal Hit‑and‑Run

U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force arrested 48‑year‑old Derek Reid on Thursday, July 30, 2026, on an outstanding warrant for child sexual abuse. Reid is also the primary suspect in a fatal hit‑and‑run that occurred on June 24, 2026 on Kelly Drive and Reservoir Drive in Philadelphia. The crash involved a white SUV attempting an illegal U‑turn, which struck a westbound 2004 Triumph motorcycle ridden by 20‑year‑old Bryce Wolfe, a Temple University student. Wolfe was dragged beneath the SUV for more than a mile before being pulled free; he was taken to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center and pronounced dead early the next morning.

Police have not yet filed charges related to the hit‑and‑run, but the investigation remains active. Authorities recovered the suspect vehicle on July 9 and continue to seek information from the public. Reid faces multiple child‑sex‑abuse charges from an April 2024 indictment, and his arrest follows a prior charge that included rape, sexual assault, and corruption of a minor.
