Dermatological methods for maintaining skin collagen and facial appearance

Dermatologist Natividad Cano explains that skin firmness depends on collagen and elastin, proteins that support the epidermis. As cells age, typically starting between ages 25 and 30, fibroblasts produce less collagen while enzymes that degrade it become more active. To counteract this loss, experts recommend a combination of retinol, proper nutrition, strength training, and medical technologies such as CO2 lasers, radiofrequency, and microfocused ultrasound.

For facial aesthetics, particularly for those over 50, managing thinning eyebrows can rejuvenate the appearance of the eyes. Experts suggest a technique using a fine-tipped brown pencil to create light, hair-like strokes in sparse areas, preceded by cleaning the skin and using a clear gel to shape and hold the brow structure.
