Dermatologist warns against ignoring persistent hair loss
Dermatology specialist Dr. Kıvılcım Çınkır Özsaraç from Medical Point Gaziantep Hospital has issued guidance regarding hair loss during seasonal transitions. While seasonal changes can cause temporary increases in hair shedding, Özsaraç warns that not all hair loss is seasonal.
Potential underlying causes for persistent hair loss include iron deficiency, thyroid disorders, malnutrition, intense stress, hormonal changes, and certain medications. Medical attention is recommended if hair loss lasts longer than a few weeks, involves noticeable thinning, receding hair lines, or the appearance of circular or regional bald patches.
Other symptoms requiring professional evaluation include scalp itching, redness, or scaling. The specialist emphasizes that treatments must be personalized based on dermatological examinations and laboratory tests, warning against the unguided use of vitamin supplements or shampoos without a proper diagnosis.
