Dermatologist warns post-summer fine lines may be skin dryness

Dermatology specialist Dr. Esra Eşbah from Acıbadem Bodrum Hospital has noted that fine lines appearing after summer may not necessarily be permanent wrinkles. Instead, these lines are often caused by significant dryness in the epidermis resulting from intense sun exposure and frequent contact with sea or pool water.

Dr. Eşbah explained that sun exposure can damage the skin's collagen structure and lead to moisture loss, creating the illusion of wrinkles. She emphasized that sun protection should not be limited to beach trips or summer months, as UVA rays remain active year-round and contribute to skin aging.

Furthermore, the expert advised against the mindset of letting skin suffer during the summer with the intention of repairing it in the winter. She stressed the importance of preventive care and consistent use of sunscreen on exposed areas throughout the year to maintain the skin barrier.
