While retinoids such as tretinoin or adapalene are commonly recommended for prevention, new energy-based technologies are emerging. The FDA-cleared AviClear treatment uses a 1726-nm wavelength laser to target the sebaceous glands directly. This method aims to provide long-term clearance for mild, moderate, and severe inflammatory acne without the systemic side effects often associated with oral medications like isotretinoin.
