Dermatology experts emphasize skin health and personalized care

Scientific advancements in dermatology have shifted the focus of cosmetics from purely aesthetic improvements to maintaining skin health. The field of dermocosmetics combines dermatological research with formulations designed to protect the skin barrier, provide hydration, and prevent alterations. Experts emphasize that skincare routines should be tailored to individual needs, such as age, genetics, and environmental exposure, rather than following a one-size-fits-all approach.

To maintain skin integrity, dermatologists recommend avoiding certain common habits. These include taking excessively hot showers, which can strip natural oils and damage the skin barrier, and overusing complex routines involving too many active ingredients, which may cause irritation. Instead, specialists suggest using lukewarm water, applying moisturizer to damp skin, and maintaining a simplified routine consisting of a cleanser, moisturizer, and sunscreen.
