Derriford Hospital's Emergency Care Building nominated for international award
The new Emergency Care Building (ECB) currently under construction at Derriford Hospital has been nominated for the Dalux ‘Celebrating Innovative Construction’ Award 2026. It is the only project from the United Kingdom to reach the final stage of the competition.
University Hospitals Plymouth NHS Trust (UHP) is utilizing Building Information Modelling (BIM) software from Dalux to manage the construction process. The software serves as a digital backbone, allowing construction partners like Willmott Dixon to consolidate project information and coordinate design, changes, and delivery.
The ECB is one of 25 global finalists, competing alongside projects such as the Kranjčevićeva Stadium in Croatia and the Sky Park Tower in Slovakia. The facility is scheduled for completion in April 2029 and will feature four clinical floors designed for urgent and emergency care.
