Derry prepares for 40th anniversary of Halloween festival
The city of Derry is preparing for its 40th anniversary of Halloween celebrations, an event recognized as Europe’s largest Halloween festival. Organizers expect more than 120,000 visitors between October 28 and November 1.
The five-day festival will feature immersive experiences, street performances, a Carnival Parade, and a fireworks finale on October 31. To manage the large crowds, authorities have announced several traffic and travel arrangements, including road closures, diversions, and parking restrictions. Visitors are encouraged to use public transport, with Translink providing additional services. Specific road closures will affect areas such as Upper Magazine Street, Palace Street, and Queen’s Quay during the festivities.
