Descartes launches AI-powered Free Trade Intelligence solution

Descartes Systems Group announced a new artificial‑intelligence‑enabled Free Trade Intelligence (FTI) platform aimed at manufacturers, importers and exporters. The tool automates rules‑of‑origin analysis, regional value‑content calculations and tariff‑shift logic, allowing companies to qualify goods for preferential tariff treatment more quickly, capture duty‑saving opportunities and lower compliance risk.

The solution integrates with existing ERP systems and Descartes’ Global Trade Intelligence suite, drawing on a library covering more than 250 trade regimes. It analyses bills of materials, tariff classifications and supplier declarations, providing auditable recommendations, faster decision cycles and stronger audit readiness. Brian Hodgson, General Manager of Global Trade Intelligence at Descartes, said the platform addresses the “complex and resource‑intensive” nature of free‑trade qualification by replacing spreadsheets and manual processes with AI‑driven decision support.
