Deseda-tó offers nature tourism near Kaposvár

Deseda-tó, located near Kaposvár in Somogy County, is one of Hungary’s longest artificial lakes. Originally dammed in 1974 for flood protection, the area has evolved into a popular destination for leisure and outdoor activities.

The landscape features a mix of forests, reed beds, and meadows, providing a rich habitat for various bird species and aquatic wildlife. Visitors can explore the surroundings via a 14-kilometer ecotourism trail suitable for walking and cycling.

Additional attractions include an arboretum, a canopy walkway, and the Fekete István Visitor Center. The center offers opportunities to learn about the local natural environment and features facilities such as birdwatching stations, a turtle enclosure, and a bird park.
