Desert Valley Elementary celebrates Mexican culture

Desert Valley Elementary in Calexico, California, held a celebration to commemorate Mexican Independence Day. The event was organized by the school and supported by volunteer mothers to promote and recognize Mexican culture.

The celebration featured approximately 10 stations containing traditional Mexican games and activities designed to foster community interaction. Throughout the day, educational information regarding the holiday was shared with participants. Principal Bertha Noriega noted that as a border city, the school enjoys celebrating the traditions of Mexico and other cultures. The school serves approximately 700 students, the majority of whom are of Mexican descent.
