Deshaun Watson faces criticism over media comments

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson has faced intense criticism from sports analysts following comments regarding media expectations and his recent performance. After a 34-10 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars, where Watson completed 16 of 22 passes for 205 yards and one touchdown while suffering five sacks, Watson suggested that the media expects unrealistic statistics, such as 400 yards and five touchdowns every week.

Former NFL quarterback Chris Simms criticized Watson for taking media scrutiny personally, stating that the quarterback needs to focus on providing solid football rather than complaining about expectations. Similarly, ESPN analyst Stephen A. Smith labeled Watson’s recent actions as ‘stupid,’ arguing that the quarterback should embrace the football-related discussions rather than pushing back against them. Both analysts emphasized that Watson’s primary responsibility is to improve his play and meet the expectations of the team and fans.
