Designer Ahmet Tarık Demirbaş transforms scrap metal into art

Industrial designer Ahmet Tarık Demirbaş, based in the Menderes district of Izmir, transforms discarded mechanical components and old sewing machines into various works of art. His creations include animal figures, lamps, boats, cars, tractors, and decorative sculptures.

Demirbaş utilizes a bolting technique rather than welding to assemble his pieces, which include automotive parts, mechanical components, and wind-up clocks. Driven by a desire to promote environmental awareness and achieve zero-waste goals, the 60-year-old designer aims to eventually establish an upcycling museum to showcase his work, which has been exhibited both in Turkey and internationally.
