Designer Roland Mouret claims Meghan Markle ended friendship over stylist mix-up
Fashion designer Roland Mouret has claimed in his upcoming memoir, ‘I Am Roland Mouret: The Butcher’s Boy Who Dressed the World’, that his friendship with Meghan Markle, Duchess of Sussex, ended following a professional misunderstanding.
According to Mouret, the conflict arose when an assistant in his design studio mistakenly contacted the stylist for Kate Middleton at Kensington Palace to organize the return of designer clothing that had been loaned to Meghan. Mouret described the error as an ‘honest attempt to be efficient’ intended to manage the return of garments.
The designer alleges that the communication inadvertently revealed a private lending arrangement to the Princess of Wales’s office, causing Meghan to feel deeply humiliated. Mouret claims that Meghan confronted him, stating, ‘You don’t realise what you’ve done! You’ve embarrassed me! I will never wear one of your dresses again!’
The account, which has not been independently confirmed, details a relationship that began in 2015 and included providing outfits for Meghan’s early royal engagements. The incident reportedly led to a permanent rift between the designer and the Duchess.
