Desio Council debates municipal staffing and security concerns

During a recent council session in Desio, opposition councilor Giovanni Delle Grottaglie raised concerns regarding the municipality's demographic services, specifically citing security issues, staff shortages, and the lack of Saturday morning hours for the registry office.

The registry office currently employs ten staff members, while the Spazio Comune department has nine. Trade unions have reportedly expressed concern over heavy workloads and the working conditions of employees. These issues led to a meeting at the Prefecture involving the administration, unions, and worker representatives to address organizational difficulties and instances of tension between users and staff.

In response, Councilor Fabio Arosio noted that tensions often occurred when staff were required to handle additional tasks related to identity card renewals. While a permanent presence of Local Police at service counters is being considered, the administration is also evaluating the installation of physical barriers and alarm systems to protect employees.
