Desislava Georgieva named Speech Therapist of the Year 2026

Desislava Georgieva, Deputy Director of Academic Activities at the Regional Center in Stara Zagora, has been awarded the ‘Speech Therapist of the Year 2026’ title. The award was presented during the National Awards for Inclusive Education ceremony, an initiative organized by the Regional Center for Support of the Inclusive Education Process – Sofia-City under the auspices of the Ministry of Education and Science.

The ceremony aims to recognize individuals and educational institutions that foster supportive environments for all children. Georgieva’s career path in special pedagogy was shaped by a chance encounter with a professor at Plovdiv University, leading her to pursue speech therapy and work with children and youth with multiple disabilities.
