Desislava Radeva greets presidential candidates with Metallica song
Desislava Radeva, wife of Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev, issued a public message following the presidential runoff election results. In a Facebook post, she stated, “Today normality won!” while offering a musical greeting to candidates Andrey Gyurov and Georgi Kandev, who lost the election.
Radeva accompanied her message with the song “For Whom the Bell Tolls” by the American heavy metal band Metallica. The choice of song carries significant historical and literary weight, as the title is inspired by Ernest Hemingway’s novel regarding the Spanish Civil War.
The election results showed Iliyana Yotova winning with 57.58% of the vote, while Andrey Gyurov received 39.47%. Radeva’s greeting was specifically directed toward the losing candidates and their team rather than the winner.
