Desola Afod retracts remarks about Nollywood industry

Desola Afod, the estranged wife of Nollywood actor Kunle Afod, has issued a public apology and retracted previous generalized remarks regarding the Nigerian film industry. The retraction follows an intervention by veteran actor Afeez Owo.

In a social media post, Afod clarified that her earlier criticisms were not intended to target the entire industry, but were directed at specific individuals she accused of mistreating her. She expressed gratitude to Afeez Owo for his outreach and stated, “Whatever statement I made generally concerning ‘Awon Omo Tiatia’, I hereby retract and take it back. I didn’t mean to generalise or refer to everyone in the industry.”

The dispute originated from a video in which Afod criticized certain actors and actresses for perceived disrespect toward her. This led to a public exchange with several Nollywood figures, including Bimbo Success and Wumi Toriola, who challenged her comments. Despite the friction, Afod maintained her identity as a celebrity wife and expressed appreciation for her supporters, stating she intends to move forward with “love and light.”
