DeSoto Resources expands gold exploration in Guinea

DeSoto Resources has expanded its exploration activities across the Siguiri Goldfields in Guinea. The company has restarted a 10,000-metre power auger drilling program at the Timbakouna Gold Project, consisting of 485 holes. This campaign targets 6km of artisanal workings and areas near historical drilling that previously yielded intercepts of up to 18m at 11.8 grams per tonne of gold.

In southwest Siguiri, DeSoto has initiated soil sampling at its wholly owned Yarakoura, Woussoubadou, and Branama projects. This follows a bulk leach extractable gold (BLEG) stream-sediment sampling program covering more than 687 square kilometres. The company aims to determine if mineralised structures extend into these three priority areas.

Additionally, DeSoto is conducting exploration across seven southeast Siguiri projects through a joint venture with Fortuna Mining. Under this agreement, Fortuna Mining holds a 70% interest and is responsible for funding exploration up to US$12.5 million. Current work in this 591 square kilometre package includes geological mapping, structural interpretation, and stream-sediment sampling.
