Despega Uruguay launches AI pilot for MSMEs
The “Despega Uruguay” pilot program has been launched to help micro, small, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) incorporate artificial intelligence into their business operations. The initiative aims to improve work processes, optimize resources, and strengthen business activities by providing customized AI tools without implementation costs.
This program is a collaborative effort involving the National Development Agency (ANDE), the National Administration of Telecommunications (ANTEL), Amazon Web Services (AWS), and Nub8. While the launch took place in Lavalleja, the program is directed at companies in the departments of Lavalleja, Maldonado, Rocha, and Treinta y Tres.
Selected companies will receive four weeks of customized tool development, technical support, and team training. Juan Ignacio Dorrego, president of ANDE, stated that the program seeks to “facilitate, foster and accelerate the adoption of artificial intelligence” in sectors that often face barriers due to high costs and lack of training. Additionally, a new Centro PYME headquarters is scheduled to open in Lavalleja on November 11 to provide enhanced technical assistance and advisory services to local businesses.
