Destilerías Ovalle 1888 launches private craft whisky society

Destilerías Ovalle 1888 has launched The Ovalle Reserve Whisky Society, Spain’s first private society dedicated to craft whisky. Spearheaded by Master Blender Juan Ovalle and film producer José Manuel Brandariz, the club is limited to 399 members.

The initiative aims to provide exclusive access to the distillery’s most limited batches, ensuring traceability and custody of reserves before they reach the conventional market. This strategic shift follows the distillery’s success at the International Spirits Challenge 2026, where its products earned silver and bronze medals. Rather than utilizing traditional mass-market distribution, the company will now retain premium liquids at the source to offer them under a private membership model.
