Destilerías Salas wins top prize at Real Cassalla competition

Destilerías Salas has been awarded the title of Best Cazalla of the Valencian Community 2026 at the III Concurs de la Cassalla held in Real. The distillery’s ‘Vint-i-set’ brand secured the top honor, while its ‘Canari’ brand earned second place in the anise liqueur category.

The competition, which featured blind tastings judged by gastronomic journalists and municipal representatives, coincided with the III Fira de la Cassalla in Parc Real. The event aims to revitalize the distilling traditions of the Ribera Alta region. Historically, the town of Real—formerly known as Real de Montroy—was a significant liquor-producing hub in the first half of the 20th century, once hosting over 40 distilleries.

Other notable winners in the traditional cazalla category included second-place finisher El Pardal de l’Albufera from Destilerías PerePérez and third-place Anís Tenis.
