Destin Daniel Cretton discusses Spider-Man: Brand New Day

Director Destin Daniel Cretton discussed his creative journey and his work on the upcoming film ‘Spider-Man: Brand New Day’. Growing up in Maui, Cretton credits movies with providing a connection to the outside world and different cultures, helping him understand emotional similarities across diverse backgrounds.

Cretton’s career includes directing ‘Short Term 12’, ‘The Glass Castle’, and ‘Just Mercy’, as well as his Marvel debut with ‘Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’. For the new Spider-Man installment, he highlighted Tom Holland’s ability to portray Peter Parker’s isolation and awkwardness, noting that the character's sense of loneliness resonates with his own experiences in his 20s.
