Destin Daniel Cretton discusses Spider-Man success and Avengers refusal
Director Destin Daniel Cretton has achieved significant commercial success with the Marvel Studios film ‘Spider-Man: A New Day’, which reportedly earned $2 billion at the box office in its opening weekend. The film, starring Tom Holland and Zendaya, follows Peter Parker as an adult living in isolation following the events of ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home’.
In recent interviews, Cretton revealed that he was offered the opportunity to direct ‘Avengers: Doomsday’ but declined the role because he ‘could not find a way to connect with it’. After informing Kevin Feige of his decision, Cretton was subsequently approached by producer Amy Pascal regarding the Spider-Man franchise, leading to his current project.
