DeTect to supply bird detection radar to Jakarta's Soekarno-Hatta Airport

DeTect, Inc. has been awarded a contract to supply its MERLIN 7360 True3D Bird Detection Radar (BDR) to Soekarno-Hatta International Airport in Jakarta. The system is intended to enhance the airport’s wildlife control program by providing real-time hazard risk alerts to air traffic control and airfield operations.

The installation will feature 7360 True3D radars positioned at the ends of each of the airport's two runways. This setup will provide 360-degree 3D coverage of the airfield and surrounding airspace. High-risk bird activity will be automatically displayed and alerted via monitors in the control tower, airfield operations, and bird control team vehicles.

While the radar systems will be manufactured in the United States, the project will be managed by DeTect’s APAC Regional office located in South Korea. The contract was awarded by InJourney Airports.
