Minas Gerais authorities announce bridge closure and driver's license extensions

The Department of Roads of Minas Gerais (DER-MG) has implemented a preventive total closure of a bridge located at km 6.10 of the AMG-2560 in the municipality of Delta. The restriction affects all vehicle categories and was enacted to ensure user safety. Technical teams specializing in bridge and viaduct structures will inspect the site to determine necessary interventions. Drivers are advised to use alternative routes via MGC-464 and BR-050, which adds approximately 6.8 kilometers to the usual journey.

Separately, the State Transit Department of Minas Gerais (Detran-MG) announced an exceptional automatic extension for National Driver's Licenses (CNH) that expired between June 5 and December 8, 2026. Following Deliberation No. 279/2026 from the National Transit Council (Contran), these licenses remain valid until December 9. This extension is automatic and requires no administrative action from drivers, though it does not apply to those with suspended or revoked driving rights. Drivers must complete their renewal process within 30 days after the extension period ends.
