Detran RJ authorizes autonomous driving instructors

The Detran RJ has authorized approximately 120 autonomous instructors to provide driving lessons in the state of Rio de Janeiro. This measure, which follows Contran Resolution No. 1.020/2025 and Detran RJ Ordinance No. 7.082/2026, allows candidates to hire these professionals directly for practical training.

Authorized professionals can begin activities on September 8, with permits valid for one year and renewable upon meeting requirements. While candidates can still use Driver Training Centers (CFCs), the new option expands availability. All lessons must be recorded in the official system to ensure candidates meet the minimum required hours for the practical driving exam. The department will monitor and inspect these instructors to ensure safety and regulatory compliance.
