Detran-SC introduces new rules to accelerate vehicle transfers in Santa Catarina

The Santa Catarina State Department of Traffic (Detran-SC) has announced new regulations to streamline vehicle transfers within the state. Effective September 24, the new rules allow for the reuse of approved vehicle inspection reports when a car is sold from a dealership to a customer, provided the definitive transfer is completed within 90 days of the report's issuance.

The measure specifically impacts the National Registry of Vehicles in Stock (Renave), a system used by legal entities for buying, selling, and repairing vehicles. Additionally, the electronic authorization for vehicle property transfer (ATPV-e) will no longer require notarized signatures, further reducing bureaucracy. For consigned vehicles, the dealership will now be formally responsible for traffic violations committed during the electronic contract period.
