Detroit advocacy truck driver attacked over message to Abdul El-Sayed

The International Freedom Coalition (IFC) has condemned a physical assault on a driver operating an advocacy truck in Detroit, Michigan. The truck was displaying a message directed at Michigan U.S. Senate candidate Abdul El-Sayed, urging him to publicly denounce jihadist terror and demand the release of girls enslaved by jihadist groups in Nigeria and Sudan.

According to the IFC, the driver was grabbed by the collar, roughed up, and pursued into a store during which individuals forcibly seized his cell phone. The coalition stated that police instructed the driver to turn off his signs, alleging the message was inciting violence. Stephen Enada, head of the Nigerian-American human rights group ICON-S, characterized the attack as an attempt to silence victims of jihadist violence in Africa.
