Detroit clinic network indicted in massive opioid and money laundering scheme

Federal prosecutors in Detroit have indicted five individuals, including three physicians, for allegedly operating an illegal opioid pipeline. The indictment alleges that between 2018 and September 2024, the group conspired to distribute over 500,000 doses of Schedule II opioids, including oxycodone and oxymorphone, through a cash-only clinic model.

Prosecutors claim the scheme involved charging patients fees between $250 and $500 per visit to obtain specific prescriptions. The operation allegedly utilized recruiters who were paid to find individuals to seek prescriptions. The indictment further alleges that the profits were laundered through shell companies, including CRW Worldwide, LLC and CRW Development, Inc.

Those charged include physicians Luis Rodriguez, Nayantara Jnananand, and Prashanti Franklin, along with Clara Wilkerson and Latanya Wallace-Hardiman. The government alleges the group bypassed insurance to facilitate the illegal distribution and laundering of funds.
