Detroit Lions expect return of safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph

Detroit Lions head coach Dan Campbell has provided updates regarding the return of safeties Brian Branch and Kerby Joseph. The team expects Branch to return to the lineup for the Week 7 game against the Green Bay Packers. While Campbell noted that Branch is unlikely to play a full game in his debut, he emphasized that Branch’s versatility will allow the defense more creative options in both deep and underneath coverage.

Regarding Kerby Joseph, who has been sidelined for over a year with a chronic knee injury, Campbell stated that he expects Joseph to play this season. Although no specific timeline was provided, Campbell expressed encouragement regarding Joseph’s progress and mental state. The Lions are currently utilizing Chuck Clark and rookie Keith Abney in the safety rotation as they await the return of their primary defensive backs.
