Detroit Lions face roster depth issues amid training camp injuries
The Detroit Lions are facing significant roster depth challenges as they enter the final week of training camp. Veteran wide receiver Cedrick Wilson Jr. and running back Raheem Blackshear have both been placed on the injured reserve list following a preseason win against the Washington Commanders. Wilson sustained a knee injury during the game, a development head coach Dan Campbell described as a cause for concern.
The team's secondary is also depleted due to injuries to Damone Clark, who is out indefinitely, and safety Thomas Harper, whose availability for the upcoming weekend remains uncertain. To address these shortages, the Lions hosted defensive backs Eric Scott and Shaun Jolly for tryouts at the Allen Park Performance Center.
On the offensive side, training camp continues to feature intense positional battles, including a competition for the starting WILL linebacker role between Malcolm Rodriguez and Devin White, and ongoing evaluations for the left guard and wide receiver positions.
