The Detroit Lions are preparing to open their 2026 regular season against the New Orleans Saints on September 13 at Ford Field. Oddsmakers have designated Detroit as a significant favorite, with FanDuel listing the Lions as 6.5-point favorites.

Ahead of the season opener, the Lions have made several roster adjustments. The team waived center Seth McLaughlin and running back Jabari Small. General manager Brad Holmes noted that the team is currently light at the receiver position, having only four players make the initial 53-man roster.

The Lions' backfield will also see changes due to injuries, as running back Isiah Pacheco has been placed on injured reserve with a back injury, leaving Jahmyr Gibbs to lead the unit.
