The Detroit Lions held tryouts for veteran offensive guards Will Hernandez and Laken Tomlinson on Thursday. The move comes as the team faces depth issues on the offensive line due to injuries.

Ben Bartch is currently in concussion protocol, and center Cade Mays is expected to be sidelined for eight to 10 weeks due to a wrist injury.

Laken Tomlinson, a former first-round pick for the Lions in 2015, has 162 career NFL starts and a Pro Bowl selection from his time with the San Francisco 49ers. Will Hernandez, a former second-round pick, has 98 career starts and previously worked in Drew Petzing’s offense with the Arizona Cardinals. As of Friday morning, neither player had signed with the team.
