Detroit Lions prepare to host New York Jets in Week 3 matchup

The Detroit Lions are preparing to host the New York Jets at Ford Field for a Week 3 matchup. Both teams enter the contest with 1-1 records. The Jets recently suffered an overtime loss to the Green Bay Packers following a victory against the Tennessee Titans, led by quarterback Geno Smith.

The Lions are coming off a 41-31 loss to the Buffalo Bills. Despite the defeat, quarterback Jared Goff recorded 327 yards and four touchdowns in that game, while receiver Amon-Ra St. Brown contributed 142 receiving yards.

Detroit's practice sessions at the Allen Park Performance Center have highlighted several roster challenges. Defensive tackle Alim McNeill, safety Thomas Harper, and offensive lineman Ben Bartch were absent from recent practice. The Lions are currently managing depth issues at safety following Avonte Maddox's season-ending injury. To address roster needs, General Manager Brad Holmes added Jalen Mills to the practice squad and signed Bishop Fitzgerald from the Pittsburgh Steelers practice squad.
