Detroit Lions sign veteran running back Trayveon Williams

The Detroit Lions have signed veteran running back Trayveon Williams to bolster their roster during training camp. The move addresses depth concerns caused by several injuries within the running back unit.

Williams, a 28-year-old former sixth-round pick from Texas A&M, brings experience from his six seasons with the Cincinnati Bengals and recent stints with the New England Patriots, Cleveland Browns, and Los Angeles Chargers. In addition to his rushing capabilities, Williams offers value on special teams, having recorded 955 career kickoff return yards.

The Lions' depth has been tested by injuries to Isiah Pacheco, who is dealing with an MCL strain, and Sione Vaki, who has faced a broken nose and eye injury. Other players, such as Jabari Small, have also dealt with injuries, leaving the team to rely on players like Jacob Saylors, Kye Robichaux, and Raheem Blackshear during preseason preparations.
