Detroit Lions training camp injury updates for key players
Head coach Dan Campbell reported that offensive guard Christian Mahogany, who was placed on the active/non-football injury list before camp, is expected to return within a few days. Defensive back Christian Izien, listed on the non-football illness list due to the flu, could be back by Friday. Tight end Tyler Conklin is dealing with a calf injury sustained in the spring and is projected to miss about two weeks of practice.
Separately, Campbell gave an update on All-Pro safety Kerby Joseph, who continues to recover from a chronic left‑knee bone bruise. Joseph is still working on his rehabilitation but remains an unknown for the Lions' Week 1 matchup, and his availability is likely limited.
These updates indicate that while the Lions have avoided major new injuries, several key players will miss early training sessions, potentially affecting roster decisions as the team prepares for the upcoming season.
