Detroit Pistons and Phoenix Suns face preseason tension and roster evaluations

During a preseason game between the Detroit Pistons and the Phoenix Suns at Little Caesars Arena, an altercation occurred early in the first quarter involving Detroit's John Collins and Phoenix's Dillon Brooks. Following a physical exchange where Brooks bumped Collins, Collins placed his hand on Brooks' neck. After a video review, officials assessed Collins a flagrant-1 foul and Brooks a technical foul.

Separately, the Phoenix Suns have utilized their preseason opener to continue evaluating their starting center position. With Mark Williams sidelined due to an offseason torn labrum, coach Jordan Ott named Oso Ighodaro as the starter for the matchup against Detroit. The team continues to rotate lineups between Ighodaro and Khaman Maluach to determine the best fit before the regular season begins on October 21.
