Detroit Pistons reject trade offer for Jalen Duren
The Detroit Pistons have reportedly rejected a trade proposal from the Sacramento Kings that would have sent center Domantas Sabonis to Detroit in exchange for Jalen Duren. The decision stems from Detroit's desire to secure Duren on a long-term contract rather than acquiring Sabonis.
Contract negotiations between Duren and the Pistons remain stalled due to significant financial discrepancies. Reports indicate that Duren and his representatives are seeking a deal worth over $200 million, with some estimates suggesting they want more than $40 million annually. In contrast, the Pistons have reportedly offered a five-year deal valued at approximately $195 million, averaging between $37 million and $38 million per year.
Duren is currently considering accepting a $9.6 million qualifying offer, which would allow him to play the upcoming season before becoming an unrestricted free agent next summer. If a long-term agreement is not reached, the Pistons may be forced to explore the trade market to avoid losing the player for nothing.
